And The Thunder Rolls!

And the rain is coming down.
A good time to sit down and catch up on a lot of things. It is amazing to me that a man who is supposed to have so much time on his hands can't seem to get anything done like entering a simple blog post! but time just slips away each day faster and faster.

Reflecting back on the past couple of days. The 4th of July Holiday weekend was one of the best ever! Krista made it in town late Thursday evening. Somehow managed to keep her here through Monday morning. Her time in Carrollton is usually restricted, much like when I'm in Blue Springs.

With her help and motivation we spent time much of the time sprucing up the Shack I call home. Krista worked her magic planting flowers and maintaining what was already in the ground. I helped when I could She has the place looking like someone actually lives in it! Also with her in the house.....I was fed "real" food!

We took in the Bellamy Brothers concert at the City Park on Saturday. The Boys still have it!

This week is the beginning of All Stars for Shelby and Shariden. An exciting time for both. Especially For Shariden. It's her first year to be selected. Congratulations ladies....I'm very proud of you, your hard work has paid off. Here are the results from the first round. Shariden and her team came out on the losing end with the final score 19-2. Shariden pitched the whole game. They were up against a strong hitting team. There will be a rematch tomorrow evening. Shelby and her team on the other hand had a winning evening 10 to 5. Shelby played third base and managed to pull down two line drives! She will play again on Wednesday as well. We will see what happens then.

a note from Sharidens game. After it was over, I was standing behind the bleachers straightening out my back, when a gentleman from the other team walked by. He commented on how the girls had a rough go of it. I agreed with him. He then followed up with...."thats quite a little pitcher you guys have". I just smiled and said "that's my daughter"! I wanted to tell him "she's one of TWO Really Good softball pitchers out of Carroll County!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least three people today have come up to me and told me to stop saying the word, "RAIN". I'm tired of it too!
Well even tho' the creeks and rivers are all running high, at least we had GREAT WEATHER today! Another day w/o air conditioning!

This Weekend was a MIlestone! Another Birthday has come and gone. It Was the Best! I wouldn't trade my time spent with Krista this weekend for anything!

Krista remembered that I had mentioned something about the Blind Boys of Alabama. They were in Kansas City this weekend on My Birthday!

THE ANSWER

I hate having to take vacation days to enjoy a holiday weekend! But in this business that's the way it is a lot of the time!!!!! There are ways around it, but try to convince others of it! The last three days away from the station gave me a taste (again) of what it's like to live with a Monday thru Friday job.....the opportunity to enjoy the weekend at home with your loved ones, and puttering. Yes I said puttering. We were not on a rigid schedule this weekend by any means! I was able to catch up on some needed rest. Able to spend a little more time on the "Blue Springs House" project. But most importantly The whole time spent with KCM! To say the least, she survived the three days with me at her every turn

The Highlight had to be the evening spent on the blanket drinking wine on the grassy lawn of the Liberty Memorial. It's where we were situated for the Celebration at the Station. The Best Year Ever in my eyes for this event! This is becoming one of our "Don't miss events" of the year! We have great memories of Union Station, and to see it as a backdrop for this wonderful evening is just incredible

If you have ever seen the "Farm Van" you know it has been in need of a Face Lift! Well It has finally happened. It's Clean, says who we are, and what We do! Be watching for it on the back roads and highways of the listening area this summer. We Are going to be doing alot of traveling with it!

We still have alittle more updating to do to it.....but it's road ready as is

The storms are popping up as I sit down to get caught up on the day. so far they are to the west of my shack. I love a good thunderstorm....as long as that is all it turns out to be. And a thunderstorm is even better when you have someone to share it with but tonight there have already been Severe thunderstorm warnings and several tornado warnings go in effect......Be safe tonight!
